National Volunteer Week April 14 - 20

ASDR is so fortunate to have a group of wonderful volunteers that help support us in all we do. These incredible people dedicate their time, energy and knowledge to helping our clients and team members. Every moment they share with us matters.

Volunteers help in many different ways, they lead support groups, facilitate social recreation programs, help with Virtual Dementia Tours, assist in our Adult Day Program, provide administrative support, and so much more.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered at ASDR, we are so grateful to have you on our team!

OTU Partnership

New community partnership exploring ways to help those with dementia to live well

Through a new partnership agreement with Ontario Tech University, ASDR envisions the creation of a unique, dementia-friendly community space.

The proposed space will be accessible, safe, inclusive, and used to promote activity, socialization, research initiatives, and training to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their care partners. With the help of OTU's Brilliant Catalyst team, plans for the space are underway.

Accreditation

In 2024, ASDR will be striving to achieve accredited status through the Canadian Centre for Accreditation.

During the past 14 months, ASDR has engaged with CCA to assess our practices and worked diligently to update and improve our operational and service policies, as well as Board Governance policies. We have introduced a more thorough Risk Management Framework as well as a robust Quality Improvement and Operational Plan that allows us to identify key performance indicators and track their progress across the entire organization.

Most importantly, ASDR has worked with our staff and clients to improve our programs and services to maintain our commitment to delivering quality and value-based programs and services for our dedicated clients.
